ABSTRACT

Sermon application refers to those aspects of a sermon that explain or demonstrate how Biblical teaching should impact the lives of contemporary listeners.

Though the Holy Spirit plays the most critical role in applying God’s Word to listener hearts, the Bible calls preachers to cooperate with the Spirit by including effective application in their sermons.

Effective application requires both biblical accuracy and contemporary relevance.  Sermons often fall short of their potential effectiveness because their application lacks one or both of these elements. 

The Sermon Application Worksheet leads preachers to develop application that maintains biblical accuracy and speaks to contemporary audiences in a relevant manner.  By utilizing the worksheet during sermon preparation preachers will enhance the effectiveness of their sermons.
